What Our Electrical Services Cover

Most calls fall into one of three groups: work inside a home, work for a business, and backup power. The same crew handles all three, so one company can quote the panel, the new circuits and the generator hookup together.

Homes

Our residential electrician services cover the daily list: new circuits for a kitchen or garage, outlets and switches, basement finishes, additions and new construction. Older houses get their own attention. We see fuse boxes, two-prong outlets and panels with no room left, and we explain what each one means for your house.

Businesses

For shops, offices, rental buildings and farms, our commercial electrician page covers power upgrades, multi-meter services for multi-tenant buildings, lighting retrofits and standby power. Tell us your opening hours during the quote, so the plan accounts for any power shutdown.

Backup power

Standby generators are the work we do most. We install and service Generac, Honeywell and Kohler home standby generators, along with the transfer switch, the panel work and the wiring. That side of the business has its own section of the site.

Panels, Service Upgrades and Surge Protection

The panel and the service coming into your house set the limits for everything else. When they are old, full or too small, new loads like an EV charger, a heat pump or a generator have nowhere to go.

Electrical panel upgrades

A panel upgrade replaces a fuse box or an aging breaker panel with new equipment, new breakers and a clear directory. Common reasons are a full panel, breakers that trip often, signs of heat or corrosion, or a planned addition. The electrical panel upgrade page walks through warning signs and how the swap is done.

200 amp service upgrades

Many older homes still run on 60 or 100 amp service. Moving to 200 amps usually means a new meter base, service conductors and a new main panel. Your electric utility has to disconnect and reconnect power, and most homes in this area are served by DTE Energy. Read about 200 amp service upgrades, meter bases and pole barn service before you plan the job.

Whole-house surge protection

A surge protective device mounts at the panel and limits voltage spikes before they travel through your wiring. It pairs well with a new panel, a generator or an EV charger. See whole house surge protector installation for how it works and what it does not do.

EV Chargers, Lighting and New Circuits

New equipment usually needs a new circuit, and a new circuit needs room in the panel. We check capacity first so you are not surprised halfway through the job.

EV charger installation

A Level 2 charger runs on a dedicated 240-volt circuit sized to the charger. We look at your panel, your service size and the distance to the parking spot, then tell you plainly if the panel needs work first. Our EV charger installation page covers charger placement, circuit sizing and what to have ready.

Lighting and ceiling fans

We install recessed LED lights, pendants, chandeliers, ceiling fans, under-cabinet lights and exterior lights. Heavy fixtures and fans go on boxes rated to hold them, and dimmers are matched to the lights. Start with recessed lighting installation if you are planning a kitchen, basement or living room.

Dedicated circuits

Freezers, sump pumps, well pumps, window air conditioners, shop tools and hot tubs often need their own circuit. We size the wire and breaker to the load and label it in the panel.

Electrical Troubleshooting and Repair

Some problems cannot wait for a remodel. A dead outlet, lights that flicker or dim, a breaker that trips again and again, or a warm cover plate all have a cause, and guessing at it is risky. Our electrical repair service starts with testing, not with parts.

What to do until we arrive

  • If you smell burning or see scorch marks, turn off that breaker and stop using the circuit.

  • Do not keep resetting a breaker that trips right away.

  • Unplug what was running when the problem started, and note what you saw.

  • Stay away from water near electrical equipment, and never remove the panel cover.

24-hour emergency service is available. For quotes and scheduled work, our office is open Monday to Friday, 7 am to 5 pm.

How a Job With 3D Electric Goes

Every job follows the same steps, whether it is one outlet or a full service change.

  1. You call or send a request. Tell us what you want to add, fix or replace. Photos of the panel and the area help.

  2. We look at the site. An electrician checks the panel, the service and the path for the wiring.

  3. You get a written estimate. It lists the work in detail before anything starts, with no hidden charges. Quotes are free.

  4. We handle the permit. Work that needs a permit is filed with your city or township building department.

  5. We do the work and clean up. Floors are covered, work areas are contained, and we clean up before we leave.

  6. The inspection closes it out. When an inspection is required, we coordinate it and walk you through the finished work.

Those steps line up with our three guarantees: Outstanding Workmanship Guaranteed, Property Protection Guaranteed and Straightforward Pricing Guaranteed. Financing is available; ask about it when you request your quote.

Permits, Inspections and Your Utility

Panel changes, service upgrades, new circuits and EV chargers usually need an electrical permit. Your city or township building department issues it, and rules differ between communities. Confirm current requirements for your address, or ask us and we will check during the quote.

Working with the electric utility

Service upgrades and meter work involve the utility, because it owns the meter and the service drop. Most of our area is served by DTE Energy. The utility sets the disconnect and reconnect schedule, so we plan the job around it and keep you informed.

Why it matters

A permit and inspection give you a record that the work was checked. That record helps when you sell the house or file an insurance claim. It also catches problems before they are buried behind drywall.
