These Generator Installation Projects are real jobs by 3D Electric, a family-owned electrical contractor in Belleville, Michigan. Every photo here comes from our own crews, not a stock library. Browse our Generator Installation Projects below, then call when you want the same work at your house.
Most of the work is home standby generators: Generac and Honeywell units set on a pad, connected to fuel and wired through an automatic transfer switch. You will also see portable generator hookups, EV chargers, lighting, commercial services and panel work, grouped by job type. For the full process, read our whole house generator installation overview.
Home Standby Generators
Each install starts with a list of what you want to run in an outage and a look at the yard. We size the unit, pick a spot that meets the manufacturer's clearances and apply for the permit with your township or city. 3D Electric installs and services Generac, Honeywell and Kohler home standby generators.
The video on this page follows one Generac job from the boxed unit to the finished transfer switch. See how a Generac generator installation goes, or compare whole house generator cost factors before you call.
Transfer Switches
A transfer switch keeps generator power off the utility lines. That protects line workers and your equipment. The photos show Generac and Honeywell automatic transfer switches outside beside the meter and inside next to the panel, some with the cover off so you can see the wiring. Read more about generator transfer switch installation.
No standby unit yet? A generator inlet box lets you run a portable generator safely through an interlock. See our generator interlock kit installation page.
Panels, Commercial, EV and Lighting Work
Some older panels need to be replaced before a generator or EV charger can be added. The panel photos show old fuse and breaker panels next to the new ones that replaced them, plus trenches and conduit for underground feeds. Learn about an electrical panel upgrade or a 200 amp service upgrade.
Commercial jobs include a 35 kW Generac standby generator and new services with CT cabinets on pole barns and metal buildings. See commercial generator installation and our commercial electrician page.
We also install home and workplace EV chargers, plus recessed lights, pendants and accent lighting. Read about EV charger installation, recessed lighting installation, or browse all of our electrical services.
Planning a Similar Project?
A photo shows what we built for one property. It is not a sizing recommendation for yours. Every home needs its own load calculation, placement and fuel check.
